THE PROBLEM
An industrial equipment distributor needed to digitally automate the exchange of purchase orders and invoices between their resellers and suppliers.  As the company grew through acquisitions, transaction costs and cycle times to ship products increased. The manual ordering system of faxes, phones and emails overwhelmed their ability to respond in a cost effective and timely manner.  Margins fell as did client satisfaction.  Something needed to be done - NetSphere Strategies answered the call.

THE SOLUTION
The solution was to build a B2B portal using IBM WebSphere Commerce software. Purchase orders are entered by resellers, and suppliers fulfill and ship orders using the distributor’s delivery system.  This electronic exchange of data greatly reduced cycle times and transaction costs. Resellers can now check order status immediately and pricing is based on pre-negotiated terms enforced by the business rules governing contract pricing. Quick, easy, automated – just like the customer wanted.
