Streamline Business Operations / Online Self-Service Site Implemented
THE PROBLEM
A local municipality needed a cost-effective, online self-service capability to conduct business with constituents. The goal was to reduce the bureaucracy citizen’s face in dealing with local government. Alleviating the long lines at the finance department to pay for city services (parking tickets, permit renewals) while reducing time delays due to batch-oriented payment processing was a key business driver. They knew what needed to be done but money was tight. That’s when NetSphere Strategies stepped in.
THE SOLUTION
Open Source software was used to minimize software acquisition costs. An online self-service application for constituents to pay bills was built from WebSphere App Server Express software. The site was up in a month, ROI occurred in four months and officials have seen steady user growth since its implementation. r.
