Time To Compromise

A basketball player doesn't make every shot attempted, nor does a baseball player get a hit every time at bat.  For every idea you come up with, don't expect it to be a hit either when you are in the batters box in the corporate boardroom. You will get another chance to make "contact" and get a winning hit in the latter innings.  Just understand that your idea may not be a hit - this time.  Handle this with maturity.  Sometimes we have to compromise our ideas to move the corporate agenda forward.  A collective voice with a single message resonates far further then a group of individuals generating alot of noise because each has a different message to push.  A healthy compromise occurs when everyone walks away from the table slightly unhappy – each side gave a little more than they wanted.  Learn from this experience so when it's time to step into the batters box again, a winning hit is more likely to occur for you and the team.  The best ideas eventually rise to the top - it just may take more than one "swing" to get that winning hit.
